Jazz Basics - Lesson 11 - Backbeats (Upbeats) and "Afternoon in Paris" (English)

Lesson 11 of Jazz Piano Basics focuses on rhythm, covering the improvisational technique of playing on the backbeats (upbeats) as well as incorporating delayed quarter-note triplets, which were discussed in Lesson 5. The student is encouraged to start improvising a little on the chord changes of the jazz standard "Afternoon in Paris."
